Buck, Thanks. Intuitively, I thought it must have been a typo. but I thought I'd check. Thanks again, Rick Rick wrote: >I finally found the time to go back through >the AGs for beginners thread. -snip- >>CLP AG(*DAG) >> OVRDBF MASTER MBR(MAR) >> CALL PRINT, AG('QILE') >> System activates program >> Allocate/init static storage >> Complete binding to service programs >> Open MASTER, mbr(JAN) > >why was member JAN opened? the override was to MAR. It looks like a typo, sorry! The override command should read OVRDBF MASTER MBR(JAN) >if the override was SHARE(*YES), would AG QILE use it then? I'm sorry for the confusion. That post (5 Mar 2002) also says this: "The override from the OPM carries into AG('QILE')" Specifically, OPM overrides carry into named activation groups if the OVRSCOPE is the default (*ACTGRPDFN) but the reverse is NOT true. If you issue an override in a NAG, OPM cannot see it. --buck (back from holiday)
