Very little new being done in there. I wouldn't start studying that. - RPG/400. Most existing code is written in this. There is still a lot of new development going on in here. Many canned packages are written in this. - ILE RPG. This is where new development should be going. Some people will get into a p!ssing contest over how I named the three types. I just use the titles from the IBM manuals for the languages. There are a number of books written on these subjects. If you want to take advantage of the latest features I'd be a little wary of authors that are so upset with IBM over how they implemented new features that they won't use them - like free format RPG. For a list of books you may wish to try http://store.midrange.com/books.htm There are a number of colleges teaching RPG throughout the world. Don't let the name of the html link confuse you. http://www.as400.ibm.com/education/college.htm#minnesota IBM offers education: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/education/ Then COMMON is a great way to learn http://www.common.org If you're into sadism you can try the manuals at: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/homeeng1.htm Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
