A couple schools of thought.

1) Create a special library. Put it at the top of system value QSYSLIBL.
Most jobs will have to be restarted to take this change. If you're
concerned about system jobs - IPL. Put your changed commands here.
Con: Many commands buried in IBM programs qualify their commands with
QSYS/commandname. Therefore your change might not be found.

2) Create a special program to be ran every time that you update your
operating system. Among other things place your CHGCMDDFT's in here. This
way they are documented and are easily ran when the upgrade is complete.

3) Document it in a database or on a piece of paper someplace. Stick this
database or paper some obscure place where people will forget about it.

4) Write a program that will check the current OS level against a stored
value. If they are different display a message that they need to fix this,
that and the other thing. Make this the initial program for anyone with
*SECOFR authority.

Hi, all

I'm an RPG programmer and the debugger is an important tool as
you know.
Today, I noticed somebody had changed the default value of UPDPROD of
STRDBG without any notification. And I asked co-workers around me, but
they didn't care at all. I was shocked.
I'm a Japanese and in Japan everybody pay attention to it when we change
the default of the command in QSYS.

Do you have a rule or good method for it when you need to change it?

Would you give me your opinion?

TIA

Regards

Ted
