I think your example is "Prettier" too.
I would do the same thing even if I had the ability to do longer.

Personally, I would much rather see it like this:

%trim(IDID) + '">' +
%trim(IDNAM) + '-' +
%trim(IDID) + '</option>' +
nl);
The option tag isn't a good example of WHY, but when mixing variables and
constants, I like to see them on separate lines.
personal preference...
although, even though I wouldn't use more than 80 (or 40 even) my
preference wouldn't/shouldn't exclude you from your preference.
