Begin stuck in V4R1, I'm not familiar with the free form stuff.  Am I to
assume from your post that free form code must begin after column 6.  If it
can start earlier then your solution would cause severe headaches to the
person that coded something like the following beginning in position 1:
EVAL Cbegin = Cbegin + 1.

Then, the only way to NOT have free format would be, say to allow me to put
a C in column 6.  Hence, this subtle change would allow you to code free
format starting, effectively in column 7.
