"" The plan to redesign the RPG precompiler has been dropped "" >Jon, >In light of this, would it be advantageous to use the SQL CLI API's? >Phil NO ! That would give Rochester an excuse not to do the right thing! For 10 years Rochester DB people have been haranguing us, Complaining to us, Chiding us, "WHY AREN'T YOU USING SQL" ! Don't you want to be modern like the rest of the world? ALL Enhancements to the DB will be in SQL. UDF's UDT's, EVI's, Blobs, Clobs, DataLinks, etc And they don't put their money where their mouth is. NO new enhancements to the Native DB access methods(ie Chains, Reads, Etc) All enhancements would be taken advantage of by SQL, BUT They are giving lip service to helping us REALLY USE the new enhancements. All precompiler things are 1,2,3 releases back on RPGIV enhancements. Your FETCH statement STILL has to be physically lower in your code than your Define and Prepare statements. Ask me how I really feel. (Kent et al are you getting this?) John Carr -----------------------
