James, James What the heck does Single Level Store have to do with Stream File Source Files? The pros and cons of where the compiler gets it's input file from has very little to do with SLIC's architecture. or the OS/400 that rides on top of it. Come back with your detailed understanding of what Single Level Store does from PowerPC architecture's perspective. What does it provide what does it preclude? Respectfully John Carr P.S. Hans I have that SAA handbook too. Jon There's that story again about RPG/370 huh? Bob I still bring my White and Red SAS *NOT button to COMMON each time out of nostalgia ----------------------------- Better would be to make the compiler use those wishy-washy IFS files as source code so you could get rid of the retarded single level store and have a rich file hierarchy that would facilitate good source management. And you would break free of the stupid record length requirements for source code. Maybe this has been done in V5? James Rich james@eaerich.com
