For what it is worth.... I have been running the latest version of Code (V5R1 SP4) for over 2 months now on a Win2K platform, and never lost a bit of code. I have had 4 or 5 times the communications manager dumped, but every single time the editors (Code Edit & Code Design) have recovered either automatically (by just restarting the comm manager) or by providing a list of my recent checkpoints to recover from... Code IS stable... I have made the switch, and after only a few weeks I am more productive in Code than SEU for most tasks... One other note... I saw someone ask, 'Do you ever really code on a plane?' While that is obviously not something any of us would do all of the time, MOST of us do code remotely via VPN or dialup sometimes... How do you like SEU when you have to wait for the next screen to roll up? Or when your DSL goes down and you loose your session? With CODE you can work on a local copy of the source, and use the verifier to make sure the source will compile when you do put it back on the 400.... The tabs default to the prompt type. I prompt F specs and O specs every now and then, but that's it. The ghost cursor in the format line helps keep me honest. The one thing no one's mentioned yet is that part of the help for RPG is the manuals--programmer's and reference. The only problem I have with Code400 is that it locks up once or twice a day. Haven't lost a significant amount of source yet, but I use highly paranoid auto-save parameters. > -----Original Message----- > From: Joe Pluta [mailto:joepluta@PlutaBrothers.com] > Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2002 7:48 AM > To: rpg400-l@midrange.com > Subject: RE: Coloring the RPG code > > > > From: rob@dekko.com > > > > But, yes, in RPG the color really helps versus the > asterisk.
