I see that as two separate projects: 1) fixing the 'B' to 'I'. Zero compatibility issue. They should do it immediately. 2) Changing all the datastructures to be pointer based. You would need two versions. There are a couple of reasons not to use pointers: A) You're a Luddite. B) You are writing an program using an API against an object, like a user space, which resides in a library not listed in system value QALWUSRDMN. Frankly I don't worry about this concern - I use the pointers. IBM, even in the help on QALWUSRDMN strongly recommends putting QTEMP in this value if you do not have *ALL. And the vast bulk of *USRSPC type objects are created here. C) You market a tool and are concerned about B.
