Thanks to the 'SFLRCDNBR' keyword suggested in an earlier posting, I'm able to display the record I want at the *top of the subfile without rebuilding the subfile. That helps a lot. I (re)registered for the NetShare400, and hope to get my password soon. I've done binary search/sorts in various languages (in RPG, it's one of the self-learning things I do), but I'm always interested in how others do things. Programs GLNOWRK and GLNOINQ have a "position to". The display file is GLNODSPF.
