RE: socket problem

OK the select() does have a 3 second timeout and - so far at least - returns
1 which is correct as there is only one socket being serviced by this
program.  I haven't seen and -1.   Debugging changes the performance profile
of the job, I think I'll have to create an event log.

Doing a WRKJOB reveals that select() in turn calls
qp0lds_select__FPiT1iP6fd_setN24P7timeval    The customer is at V4R3.
