Jose, If you want to use I specs to define your fields then that is your personal choice. I am just trying to ensure that you are making an informed choice. AS/400 files can be externally defined. For example, on the F spec where you put an F, (not in column 6) for Fixed, you could have instead put an E for Externally defined. Then the compiler would have 'automatically' built your I specs for you.
