If you want to use I specs to define your fields then that is your personal
choice. I am just trying to ensure that you are making an informed choice.
AS/400 files can be externally defined. For example, on the F spec where
you put an F, (not in column 6) for Fixed, you could have instead put an E
for Externally defined. Then the compiler would have 'automatically' built
your I specs for you.

oops,
SORRY ALL,
I was totally off.
I looked again and saw that I after renaming the record format for the
new logical, I didn't add the new format with fields in my input specs.
ie.
* (new named logical format)
ISAFCHDV2
I SATL05
I SATL06
I SATL07
