39/19 (20 yrs in May) I cross trained on a S/34 for two months, then went upstairs to learn System/38 and never went back to the 34. Learned CLP, RPG, etc. on System/38. I'm too frikin' burned out now though. Can I go home? (ha, ha) Would like to retire by the time I'm 50 (God willing!) >>> spanner@ihug.co.nz 12/10/01 11:02AM >>> 41/19 I vividly remember when I first started programming on the S/38 that the senior programmers used to have arguments about whether to use the cycle or open the file under User Control.... It's there - be aware of it, but I would tend not to use it except for one shots. I pretty much agree with Jon's argument as I prefer to see code that tells you explicitly (within reason) what it is doing.
