Bruce,

There are several answers, but since you asked on an RPG list, I
will assume you want an RPGIV answer. I recently started collecting
utility procedures I wrote and put them out on an open source web
site. One of those utilities is a set of IFS file procedures. You can
access them at http://iseries-toolkit.sourceforge.net. The IFS file
toolkit
is not part of the distribution package yet but it is available via
CVS.
If you are adventurous, you can get directly to the source from this
link:
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/iseries-toolkit/CVSROOT/src/
The IFS procedures are in the unix.irp files.

If you are not sure what CVS is, it is a source management system
that supports collaboration. If learning CVS is something you would
like to avoid, check the site later this week and the you should find
a new packaged save file download that includes the IFS procedures.

I am wanting my customers to ftp files to my AS400. I then want to be
able to pull the data from these files and build Externally Described
files on the AS/400 to hold the data. Has anyone done this and if so
could I get some examples.

TIA
