Depending on your exact need, CPYFRMIMPF may do what you want. If the data is fixed length (fielded) text, FTP to a database file might work. If you need to parse out the data, you'll need to look into the UNIX Type APIs. The RPG Redbook (Sorcer's Guide...) has a good introduction with lots of sample code. I think reading IFS files directly with RPG is probably the slowest method.
