The DFRWRT(*NO) worked but I did decide to go with the FRCDTA (force data) since I could assign it to a format. It made more sense too when it comes to keeping things easy to maintaine. I did notice one thing. After my new compile I ran the program and it didn't look like it was doing anything so I must have hit F3 a dozen times to get out of it. Needless to say it was working fine and all the F3's I hit bumped me out of every darn thing I was doing. That made me think... maybe I should use the LOCK keyword too... (giggle) Bill
