I have not been following the posts much the past week or so, so I do not know if you got the information you were looking for, but we use MICR encoding for our own checks from the AS400. Yes we had to get a special MICR font and in the DDS we have to include the name of the Library and the name of the font to be loaded to the printer. XMICR 45A O POSITION(&L09 2.5) FNTCHRSET(QFNTROSE2/C0MCR13B - QFNTROSE2/T1MCR13B) As for the special characters, a '<' (less than) will create the symbol that goes before and after the check number and at the end of the micr line; a ':' (colon) will create the symbol that goes before and after the transit number. That is what works for the micr font that we have anyway. If you need more information, I will be happy to supply what I can.
