I think tab and back tab will only move the cursor from one input capable
field to another. The problem is the default behavior of 5250 data stream.
Cursor control keys do not generate AID (Attention Identifier), or a
character code. There's nothing to see in your program because those
keystrokes are not captured as data.

Only keys that signal AID could be used as a backspace. Here were my
choices:
Clear
Command Function 1 through 24
Enter/Rec Adv
Help
Print
Record Backspace Function(Home)
Roll Down (Page Up)
Roll Up (Page Down)

When I originally tested this idea, I ended up using the HOME key to signal
a backspace, but I was never very pleased by that. It's just not user
friendly....

Couldn't the user use the back tab key instead of the backspace key?
