Why not just use the old-fashioned MOVE/MOVEL instead?

Subject: Editing leading zeroes
Is there a way to use %CHAR (or %EDITC or %EDITW) to NOT strip off the
leading zeroes? We have a need to keep the zeroes for zip codes, social
security nbrs, dates, and master file key fields.
Thanks in advance for any help.
