You can use a combination of MAPFLD and %XLATE as shown below:

   OPNQRYF FILE(YOURFILE) KEYFLD((EMPNAME) (EMPNUM))
                              MAPFLD((EMPNAME '%XLATE(EMPNAME QSYSTRNTBL)'))

I'm in Sydney right now at Interaction Australasia and could not send a response
directly to Midrange-L for some reason.  I'd appreciate your forwarding this
response to Midrange-L in case anyone else runs into the same problem.

Thanks.

I have a file that contains employee names. So of the names are all upper case
and some are mixed case. I can use QSYSTRAN table to get a LF in the correct
sort sequence, but I am having problems getting OPNQRY to work. Can anyone help
me?

TIA
