I have discovered that mailto requires a pretty recent version of Client
Access Express in order to work. Oh, well, now I know which developers in
our shop need upgrading.

And I think I may have misinterpreted someone statement about buttons. I
think that what I should have heard is that if you turn hotspots on your
5250 sessions that these links may appear as buttons, instead of what I
wanted to hear, which is that you could hide http links under a character
or two instead of sucking up so much 5250 space.

And you know what? mailto:rob@dekko.com works also.
Yeah, just put
mailto:rob@dekko.com
on your screen, double click on it, and boom, your pc's favorite email
package loads up.  How cool!

Didn't someone say that you could hide this stuff under a button and it
would work also? What I am thinking of is a screen with the following:

Enter cost selection: ___ ?
And with some training they will know to double click on the question mark
for help.

Here is some sample DDS, of how easy the http and the mailto are:
R RCD1
                        2 5'http://www.dekko.com'
                        4 5'mailto:rob@dekko.com'

That is so cool! I just tried typing it into a source file and double
clicked and opened my browser just like you said!
Not that I doubted it, just had to see it work. Opens up lots of
possibilities.

Jean,

All you have to do is display a URL on a screen. When using CA emulation
the user can double click the URL (you can even set up the emulation to
display the URL as a button, so a single click will do) and the URL is
passed to the default browser. On a terminal the URL is just wasted space
:-)
