ILE and OOP are two different animals.

You can do OOP in ILE, such as C++ on the AS/400.

ILE is a way/method of linking calls/programs/modules.

OOP is a way and methodology of writing programs in languages that
support it.

Which is more important for you to learn?  If you are programming
on the AS/400, IMO you need to learn ILE foremost.  Then learn OO.
