Hi,
i found following post on midrange list:
http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200001/msg00450.html

and change return variable definition from 1 *char to 16 *char even RPG
procedure returns only 1 *char.

Now it works , first byte contain return value and other 15 some none
displayable characters.

Can anybody explain it?

CL help for return value:

CL variable for returned value (RTNVAL) - Help

 *NONE
The called procedure does not return a value.

 return-variable-name
The name of the variable that is to contain the return
value from the called procedure. This may be either a
decimal or a character variable. Variables used as
return variables will be aligned on a 16-byte boundary.

Subject: Pointer not set for location ..... (Document link: Slava

I am calling RPG procedure from a CL. Procedure returns 1A value.

When RPG hits RETURN opcode the following message appears:

Message ID . . . . . . : MCH3601 Severity . . . . . . . : 40
Message type . . . . . : Diagnostic
Date sent . . . . . . : 05/30/01 Time sent . . . . . . :
14:37:25
Message . . . . : Pointer not set for location referenced.
Cause . . . . . : A pointer was used, either directly or as a basing
pointer, that has not been set to an address.

I have seen somebody had similar problems but i can not find post for some
reason.
Thanks
