1) Don't waste your time by doing a DSPFFD to an outfile. The file already exists, and is constantly updated by the system. The name of the file is QADBIFLD. Do a DSPDBR QADBIFLD also. 2) Instead of &FLDNAM, let's use DBIFLD, (to use the file QADBIFLD). By the way, you're not insisting on using 'stone knives and bearskins' are you?
