Barbara,

I agree, we always used Z-ADD for the exact reasons you mentioned, but also as a
subtle reminder to the programmer that they are dealing with numeric fields.

With Simon's input, it has shown that the RISC processors are definitely favored
towards using Z-ADD.

It was just a boring, rainy weekend here in the Pacific Northwest and if the
in-laws weren't here I'm sure that my wife and I could have found something
better to do ;-}
