If you are writing an EDI software, I know your problems. I already worked on
this.
Basically, you need three things to write your datas :
1- A "dictonnary" file (you already have)
2- A message file which contains datas (you already have too)
3- A mapping file (you need to create)

This mapping file (3) will contain all the links between your file message (2)
and your database file (where you want to write your datas) by using the
dictionnary file (1).
That's the only way to do this. But you will have to think a lot about this
mapping file if you want to work with differents EDI norms such as Edifact, X12,
...

This EDI subject is off topic of the RPG list, so if people don't want to hear
about it, I will discuss this in private.
