We have an application in which you USED to place an option 8 in front of a
record and it would call EDTDOC, or some conglomeration thereof, and bring
up OV/400's word processor and let you type notes to your hearts content.
Well, now I want to replace the WP with a variable length field. The trick
is that the field may be larger than the screen. DDS is too primitive to
support this. One coworker suggested a subfile. However the thought of
removing 5 words from the middle of a line and having to copy/paste the
remaining rows to shift the text rather disgusts me. Just as vile as some
of the steps I've gone through when modifying multi line comments in SEU.
I am open to ideas.

Is there something I am overlooking in DDS?

Is there a UIM solution for this?

Is there a Dynamic Screen Manager api function for this?

Gee, in html all it would take is 1 line of code:
<Textarea rows="20" cols="70"></textarea>

Yes the thought crossed my mind about converting the whole durn thing to
web but let's shelve that idea for now.
