The fields coming from the display file are PACKED numbers not ZONED.
If you look at the compile listing for your RPG program, and see where
these fields are defined, it'll tell you that they're packed.

In fact, since they're zoned in your display file -- the RPG program is
automatically converting them from zoned to packed, just because it's
so eager to get packed numbers. :)

Anyway, if you force them to ZONED in your d-specs, your code should work.
If you want the system to pull them automatically from the external 
definitions, you might be able to do it like this:
