Use a stream file in the IFS instead of a database file. (FTP is converting your database to a stream file when sending it to the Unix machine, anyway) With a stream file, there are no limits for the lengths of records, etc. There may be limit to the total byte-length of the file itself, but it seems unlikely that you'd run up against that...
