Thats what I love about performance seminars,  They say those things and
people believe them.   I remember programmers arguing against having
functional subroutines because they went to a John Sears session and John
said that "For Performance straight top down programming is faster"

I went to an audio store one time and the sales man told me about a tape
drive that had .00000001 wow and flutter,  I asked "What can a human
physically hear?"  Well only about .01 .

Sorry for the rant.  But its like saying that 30 seconds off a 10 minute
runtime is cause for a change of programming techniques.

We use "Reuse Deleted"  on all our files and never have to worry about
them. And no noticeable performance impact.   Do we have huge files?  No,
Should we worry about IBM not "Promoting" reuse delete in our shop ?  No.

If I had a 100 million record file,  I would consider the impact.  Just as
Mr. Turner(who I know and respect) should consider the impact of
generalized  statements at seminars to people who think it applies
"Everywhere, everytime situations"
