(And my experience is with Apache only, where configuration often seems like black magic.) Before deciding that everything works fine, be sure to check what happens when you use Netscape. As I mentioned before, IE tends to give lip-service to the standards, and so it's a poor judge of what's correct. If things work correctly using NS, then the default server configuration is probably fine. But as Scott mentioned earlier, for certain less common file types, you may need to add an entry into some configuration file.
