The thing you have to remember is that if you only know RPG/COBOL and maybe CL, you have some work ahead of you to learn new technologies like XML, HTML, JavaScript, Java, etc. But once you start learning one new technology the rest are 'easy' compared to the first time you learn something. So get out and learn! If you decide that you are going to wait around for something as solid as RPG to _become_ solid you will be waiting for awhile. Learn new technologies even if you don't see an immediate benefit or even if your company can't use it right away. Because when you are in that 'big meeting' with all managers and they ask you if it can be done you can confidently say YES-IT-CAN and also tell them the right tools for the job. In other words, you can listen to all the new hyped boy bands('N Sync, Backstreet Boys, etc.), but don't forget about Van Halen.
