Dan,

STRISDB depends on the source member being available.

Aldon archives stuff that gets promoted but when it gets deleted from a
developers library it's up to the developer.

There's ongoing 'discussion' about improving the feedback from the backup
job. :-) I thought looking for a completion message was at least a start.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Subject: Recover source from OPM RPG prog

Hopefully, there's a much better way than what I am about to suggest, but if
there's not, it's probably better than nothing. I'm presuming you don't
have
the last compile listing in an outqueue somewhere, right?

Fire up the app via STRISDB and start copying and pasting.

Told ya it wouldn't be pretty!

BTW, last time I was responsible for backups, I had messages sent to my user
profile and a report of each save operation [OUTPUT(*PRINT)] in a special
outqueue. Also, after all the saves completed, I did a DSPTAP DATA(*LABELS)
and DSPTAP DATA(*SAVRST).

I know, I know, water under the bridge. Hindsight is 20/20. Ya better
figure
it'll happen again, though. Think, too, you got off cheap, REAL cheap, by
the
fact that you lost one source member. You might not be so lucky next time!

Just wondering, does CMS keep a "version" archive of old source members?

Finally, somebody already mentioned www.sourceretrieval.com.

Good luck!

-------------------------- Original Message --------------------------
Through an error using our Aldon CMS system one of our programmers deleted
the wrong source member while resolving a conflict. The operations folks
now tell us the developer's library was last saved on 10/19/00 due to the
job scheduler entry being put on hold then and never subsequently released.
Operations has dutifully been mounting tapes, initializing them, removing
them the next morning and then storing the *BLANK tape with an offsite
storage vendor. (The execution of the operations folks is now scheduled
too, pending Dubya's pulling the switch on 'old sparky.')

Question: Does anyone know of a way to recover the source or decompile the
program object given that it's an OPM RPG object with OPTION(*SRCDBG)
specified?

TIA
