Dan, I don't think there was anything in that subprocedure that entailed
it actually being a subprocedure.  If you make it a separate program,
you could call the program almost the same as Scott showed.  You'd need
to change the return value to a parameter, and change the "value"
parameters
to "const", but otherwise the code would be the same.

To convert the subprocedure to a program, remove the P specs and
change the return statements to assignments to the result parameter.
