You are quite right.  My answer was based on the original poster's comment that
they were using 8 digit dates, and I wasn't considering other forms of date
control when I made my comment.  You are the second person to pick this up, so
obviously I was not very clear on this point.

Yes, windowing is a problem, though any problem that won't strike until 2080 is
not one I'll lose sleep over.
