If by "dynamically allocated" you mean storage allocated by ALLOC (or
similiar method) then yes, that should work with recv().

By "I don't get any data" do you mean you get an unsuccesful return
code or that the API returns a positive value for the return code and
you are unable to find the data?  If the latter, check to make sure
you're passing the pointer returned by ALLOC by value to recv().
