Hi folks,
instead of being busy redoing the 70's wars pro and against
structured programming (or was it in the 60's ;-) have a look
at some other plans IBM revealed in a survey on the partners
in development.

From R45 on they want to freeze DDS in away that you can
no longer open a file under DDS that was created with Sql
using post R45 functionality.

It means you all have to switch to Sql. This in itself may not
be too bad, but considering the present Sql precompiler it
is really bad news.

Think of all those nice file-inspecting utilities ("wrkDbF", . . .)
which will be broken.

I think one should make clear to IBM that they have to build
the Sql support into the Rpg compiler just like support for
DDS is now.

your opinion?

curious Rolf
