DS and external described files.... -- RPG400-L

Hi, consider this:

d fttesx        e ds         extname(fttes00f)             

c   x       chain    fttes00f
c           eval     fttesw=fttesx
c ....
c .... change the fields in fttesw
c ....
c           eval     fttesx=fttesw
c           update   fttes(00f)

Is it working?
Is it too "expansive" at run time?
