Rajendren,

You can do that, but you have to do a few things first:
1) Create a dummy file in which you have the mapfields named and use that on the
FORMAT parameter
2) you can BIF %substring on a MAPFLD parameter on character fields, for numeric
fields use it in conjunction with BIF %digits
3) Define on the parameter KEYFLD the value *MAPFLD

Like
OPNQRYF file FORMAT(dummy) KEYFLD(map1 *MAPFLD) MAPFLD(map1 '%substring(field 4
6)')
