I'm not sure I understand your problem Bill since there is really no
connection at all between PR/PI and Activation groups.  I must be missing
something.

As to books try the new RPG Redbook (who knew you could do that with RPG
IV" which you can read/download/order from www.redbooks.ibm.com)

If you try to learn ILE through "trial and error" then in my opinion you
will finish up with far more error in your design than you need/want.  I've
seen far too many lousy ILE systems built on the trial and error principal
to want to encourage another one!  There are many folks here on the list
who can help you, but you need to tell us what your problem is.  Give us a
specific problem and let us see if we can help.
