Well how does the server tell the client that it has sent all the data? Are you sending the length in the first couple of bytes or using a null terminated string? If the server writing multiple lines? Is the client receiving partial and not performing a second read? Is the client trying to read after receiving all the data? Hope these q's help, Christopher K. Karen Herbelin - Readers Digest 3/2000 -----Original Message----- From: Hatzenbeler, Tim [mailto:thatzenbeler@clinitech.net] Sent: Friday, September 01, 2000 9:50 AM To: 'RPG400-L@midrange.com' Subject: Socket Help This is my first attempt at writing a socket server, and it works sorta... Nearly all of the code was taken from the 'I didn't know I could do that book :) ' Version 3 code (Multiple clients, 1 server) the server would write the requests to a prtf, and an audit log to a prtf. But I'm trying to pass the results back to the client. So I added what I thought would be the correct code to the server (WRITE) and to the client a (READ) command, but the client just seems to freeze. The server is working fine, because If I open another client and use the ENDSV command the server completes normally. So either the write is not writing anything, or the read is looking at the wrong spot or something... So I was wondering if any one had any suggestions, or even a way on the 400 to monitor that port to see if any data is present... tia, tim +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
