  • Subject: testing a batch RPG pgm which uses the TIME opcode

I am trying to test a new version of an RPG4 pgm. I run the old and new pgm
versions, then use CMPPFM to compare the output files field by field.

1) Is there a way to have the unmatched records output from CMPPFM with
field name columns, and showing packed data in a readable format?

2) Is it possible to show the unmatched records as hex, so I can see
time stamps and packed field values? Currently the CMPPFM report shows only
printable characters.

3) The RPG pgm uses the TIME opcode to time-stamp fields in the
records. Since the old version and new version run a few seconds apart,
none of the output records ever match. Is there a way to force the TIME
opcode to return a constant value in a job so the timestamp fields will
match when running CMPPFM??

Thanks!
