You're absolutely right.  However, the habit of choosing character variables
has led to the myth that one cannot pass numeric variables between programs.
I thought it a convenient moment to post otherwise (for the lurkers.)  I've
found that misunderstanding parameter passing conventions has been a barrier
for beginners in RPG IV.  My sincere apologies if I have offended!
