  • Subject: CODE/400 Debugger problems

Hi there,

I have just received the latest V3R2M3 Code/400 (V4R4, CUM C0147440) and
have been going through the tutorial to see how it works. First of all,
thanks to this list for answering some questions from John Carr about
starting CODE/400 - the product instructions are not too clear and I was
having the same type of problems. I am not too impressed with this product
so far, but this may be because I am new to Code/400 and haven't figured
out all the twists to using it. I don't find it intuitive and trying to
find some things in the on-line "manual" is next to impossible (try to find
anything that tells you how to exit indent mode without paging through the
tutorial).

So far, I have been able to change and compile screens and programs. My
current problem is that I can not get the CODE debugger to run. I have
started the debugger server (STRDBGSVR) on an AS/400 session and have a
STRCODE session going. I am right clicking on the sample program (GUIDES1)
and selected CODE debug. In the Load program window (within the
Distributed Debugger window) I am trying to retrieve a job list to select
the job to debug. I enter /MURVIND/ and click the Job List button, fill
out the Debugger AS/400 log on (again!), then after a bit, I get a Debugger
Message "Connection to host 'my host IP address here' refused. Most likely
STRDBGSVR was not issued on the AS/400" and I am out of luck.

The only thing I can see is in the d:\IBMDebug\bin\idebug.exe DOS window is
the following: d:\adtswin\JAVA\jt400.jar": The specified module could not
be found. Well when I look in explorer, it looks like it is there to
me. Even after this message, is looks like it starts the IBM Distributed
Debugger <User Interface>. DSPLOG has messages for "Servicing user profile
MURVIND from client 123.456.7.8", so it looks like it is talking to me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on what to look for next.
