Your "guess" is correct.  The really simple answer is that it doesn't
matter what or where the physical storage is located, the AS/400's memory
management system will deal with it and present it to your program as a
contiguous area no matter how large it is.  Don't forget that with single
level storage _everything_ (well almost) is an addressable point in memory.
Your files, your devices, etc. etc.

Even simpler answer - don't worry about it.
