If using RPG IV, it is easy using date fields and op-codes. If using RPG
III, create a small RPG IV program to do it. Off the top of my head(not
tested)

c time date_field
c subdur 1 date_field

Now date_field contains yesterdays date, just move it to a field with the
format you desire. For example, to get it in a 8 digit numeric YYYYMMDD:

c *iso move date_field my_date

If you haven't experimented with date fields and the date functions this
would be a good way to start learning about them. They are a tremendous
time saver, we have created all sorts of date utilities and put them into a
service program for ease of reuse.
