IBM Slashes VisualAge for RPG and CODE/400 Prices Big Blue has
slashed per-user charges on its VisualAge for RPG and CODE/400 toolset,
which used to be called the Application Development Toolkit for
Client/Server until OS/400 V4R4 was announced. Last week, the price of VRPG
andCODE/400 (that's one product, not two) was cut from $1,150 to $300 per
seat. That's a 74 percent price cut, which is relatively unheard of at Big
Blue. IBM also cut price tags on upgrades from prior V3 and V2 generations
of the toolsetby 74 percent to $150 per seat. IBM has also significantly
enhanced the functionality of the toolset while cutting the price.
