Sorry....   in that that last message I posted, I forgot to subtract
one from the location of the null, causing it to be part of the file
name. 

It should've been this:

c     x'00'         scan      d_name        templen          10 0      
c                   eval      templen = templen - 1 
c                   if        templen > 0 and templen < 256                     
      
c                   eval      Name = %subst(d_name:1:templen)           
c                   movel     Name          dsply_me         52         
c     dsply_me      dsply
