A very good friend of mine used to describe this concept as a 'cardboard programmer.' He reckoned you could use anyone -- theoretically, even a cardboard cutout -- as a 'diagnostic tool' in this way. I thought it was an excellent phrase. -- Paul ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: RE: F Specs on an OVRDBF Author: "Bale; Dan" <DBale@lear.com> at INTERNET Date: 09-06-00 2:56 pm Laura, sometimes the simplest things are gonna stump ya. <g> How many on the list have done this? Even (especially?) the experienced ones. You struggle with a programming problem - your code isn't doing what it's supposed to do. You look at it over and over and over, and, finally, you ask your colleague to come over and look at the code. He/she walks over, you start explaining line-by-line, and then it hits you square in the old noggin! You look at your colleague, who hasn't said a danged thing yet, and you say "Thank you!" It's a good reason to have imaginary friends! +--- | This is the RPG/400 Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to RPG400-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to RPG400-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to RPG400-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
