I have used both Progen and Synon, I think your views on Synon are a little 
unfair, Synon is a more strategic product, and it costs more, but the 
benefits are far greater in the long run, if it is used properly. Having 
said that if you can't justify Synon (Now called Cool:2e) then Progen is a 
very good product.

  I used it a few years ago.  It was a really good product w/ excellent
tech support.  I can only image that it has gotten better.

  In the unusual case that you actually have to look at the generated code, 
the in-line documentation is quite good.  It sure beats raw Synon code.
